Downtown Denver Senior Sessions at Confluence Park

I’m so excited to bring ya’ll this blog post featuring two lovely seniors, one from Cherokee Trail High School and one from Douglas County High School that both chose Confluence Park for their Senior Session. I absolutely love this park and somehow it just happened that I hadn’t shot there in a few years so when they both wanted this location I was excited to not only see what it was like again, but to rekindle my creative juices. For those of you creatives you get what it’s like to revisit a technique or something you haven’t done in a while and it is exciting, fresh and new again. That’s how I feel about this location.

My first session was with Ms. A and the weather was absolutely perfect for a sunrise session. This is definitely a location that sunrise sessions are better because there is less foot traffic and thus less photo bombers to try and avoid. Ms. A is a soon to be Cherokee Trail High School graduate and she is off to continue her education down south, and honestly I am a little jealous that she gets to experience some warmer weather!

A couple of months later Ms. K was ready for her senior photos and lo and behold she also wanted Confluence Park, which made me happy. I love mixing up the backdrops at the same location, so you will see a few different backdrops at Ms. K’s session. The other thing you will notice is that it was a lot colder during K’s session because it was deep into fall season and morning sessions are really a gamble when you get to October.

I “love me” some wind blown hair because it creates movement in photographs, plus you just have to embrace it in Colorado because there seems to always be some wind, no matter which season of the year we’re in. K completely embraced it and did a fabulous job with these cold temps. It was about 40 degrees that morning and we definitely had to take warming breaks with a winter jacket in between shooting.

Each senior client is unique, and we took advantage of K’s outfits and made our way to both the brown rustic bridge and the art walls that coordinated so well with K’s overalls and turtleneck! And let me just say, the current version of overalls look so much cuter than the ones we were wearing in the 90s!

This was our final set before we had to call it due to the weather! It started sprinkling and sprinkles and beautiful flat ironed hair don’t coordinate well. I’m so glad we got these last images with K’s guitar. She is an extremely talented musician and of course that is something we want captured because it is part of who she is!

I’m so grateful that my path crossed with these young ladies and their mothers, as it was nothing less than a privilege to play a small part in celebrating their senior year. I’m wishing you both all the best as you head off to continue your education.
