Denver B'Nai Mitzvah Celebration | Denver CO Event Photographer

Hey friends! Hope you all are enjoying the beginning days of fall.  This is the time of year where I could literally have the heater on in the morning and the air conditioner on in the afternoon, which I'm sure drives my husband crazy, but I can't help it.  I know, I know you all expected me to blog about some beautiful fall sessions that I shot last season, but I decided to do something a bit different this month.  Most of my work is portrait work, with some elopements and intimate weddings thrown in there.  But, guess what; I also photograph events, which are equally as fun to shoot as elopements.

This spring I had the extreme pleasure of photographing a B'Nai Mitzvah.  I had heard of a Bat Mitzvah or a Bar Mitzvah, but a B'Nai Mitzvah (celebrating twins) was a new experience for me.  This B'Nai Mitzvah ceremony celebrated twins' A and A's coming of age.  It was a beautiful and educational ceremony facilitated by Rabbi Brian, from Judaism Your Way in Denver Colorado and held at the gorgeous JW Marriott Denver Cherry Creek.  It was uniquely designed by the twins and  Rabbi Brian to reflect each twins individual spiritual and experiential goals for their Mitzvah ceremony and to celebrate them.

The B'Nai Mitzvah ceremony was beautifully orchestrated so that each twin had a chance to reflect and speak about their individual goals and how they went about achieving them; and so their parents, siblings, grandparents and other special people in their lives had a chance to pay tribute to the twins.  They had the opportunity to just be still and listen while their loved ones spoke about special memories with them, their unique personalities, and their loved ones hopes and dreams for the twins' futures.  And in case you can't imagine what this type of tribute is like, it was simply beautiful and there was no way one could listen without shedding a tear, or two, or more.

There were so many things I loved about being a part of this ceremony.  To name a few:

-I loved that the ceremony was mixed with Jewish tradition and the twins unique spin

-I loved that they reflected on their goals (a mix of spiritual, physical, and community goals), some of which were pretty challenging and they didn't fully meet; but their honest recap was refreshing

-I especially loved the tributes interspersed throughout the ceremony.  The tributes were heartfelt and shared at a time in a teenager's life when they need to feel affirmed and validated in exactly who they are

It was a privilege for me to share in this special day, as it was an intimate look in an important milestone in this family's journey; and I love this family!

After the ceremony, the kids got a chance to get photos with all sets of their parents and Rabbi Brian.  I know they will cherish this photo for years to come.

After a break during the day, the festivities reconvened in the early evening for a full on After Party celebration.  This was unlike any other teenage celebration, with good food, great entertainment, and the twins closest friends and family.
