Mountain Senior Sessions | South Denver Senior Photographer

Well, it’s only been about 6 months since I fired up the the blog again, but it’s past time. I have so much helpful content that I want to share; some recent, some a little past recent, ha! This particular post is all about Mountain Senior Sessions, and I use that term loosely as these locations are not in Rocky Mountain National Park or Summit County, but they have some nice “Mountain’ views in the background and they aren’t too far from the city. The locations include Lair o’ the Bear (Jeffco Open Space), Kenosha Pass, South Mesa (Boulder) and Mt Falcon East (Jeffco Open Space). You can read a little bit about each location below and the Seniors that chose them.

Lair o’ the Bear in Jeffco Open Space is really the best of all the worlds for a Senior Session. It’s not too far from Denver, and it has a variety of backdrops. Adriana (Grandview High School Senior) chose this location because of the stream, the mountain views, and the open grass fields. It is so pretty and green in the summertime and it is also stunning when the leaves start to change colors in the fall. Lair o’ the Bear is like a photographer’s dream because there are so many amazing spots that you may run out of time trying to get to them all in a 90 minute senior session!

Hannah and her mom chose Kenosha Pass because it holds very special camping memories for both of them. I had never been to Kenosha for a Senior Session before because it’s about double the drive time than what I tend to do; but with the fall colors, it was absolutely worth the drive! Hannah’s mom took us to all their secret spots, but I think the golden aspens were my absolute favorites. While this is likely not a location I will do often, I couldn’t resist sharing some of sweet Hannah’s session on the blog.

This beautiful Cherokee Trail High School Senior, chose South Mesa Trailhead in Boulder for her session. I don’t tend to shoot in Boulder often, but after I scouted the location and saw how beautiful it was, I decided to go for it. South Mesa has so much diversity - mountain views, open fields, a cute stone house, a gorgeous bridge and a stream. I loved every minute of capturing Camy’s senior session here.

And last but not least, gorgeous Mikala chose Mt Falcon East for her Senior Session. I have shot Mt Falcon East a number of times, but shooting at sunrise was a first for me! The lighting was totally different first thing in the morning than it is at sunset, but we got a gorgeous sunrise. The obvious highlight of Mt Falcon East is the backdrop of Red Rocks Amphitheater, which is classic Colorado. One final benefit of Mt Falcon East is there is a quaint little area not far from the trailhead with a cute bridge for some additional backdrops.

I hope this blog post has given you some ideas for “Mountain Locations”. Colorado is a beautiful place to be and it deserves to be shown off during a Senior Session. I can’t wait to hear from you!
