The Perfect Mother's Day Gift | Centennial Colorado Extended Family Photographer

A little while ago, I shot an amazing extended family session in honor of the Matriarch and Patriarch's 50th wedding anniversary.  My experience with that family reminded me of how much I love extended family sessions, and how important they are because they usually bring together at least three generations.  It also reminded me that although I shot this session about a year ago, that it was time to share it because the connections beyond your immediate family are just so important!

This session came about because my friend B, that I know from MOPS, wanted to gift her mother and sister a session of all of them for Mother's Day!  Not only was it an excellent idea, but she also offered up her family's property to do the session.  Ummm, yes please!!!  I was so excited because B is so much fun, but little did I know I was in for such a treat because her sister, mother, sons, and nephew were equally as fun.  You'll see that there were so many laughs shared during this session. I'm not sure how that happened, but it did!

The first part of the session was reserved for Mom and the girls.  I loved the genuine intimacy of their relationship, and how much they enjoyed being together.  They are so lucky to all live in the same area.  If I remember correctly, some of the laughing ensued because they told mom this story about how they had snuck out late at night with the car as teenagers and mom didn't know.  I was laughing so hard I couldn't even keep my camera tilted straight.

Be still my heart, because the way these boys loved their grandma and they loved her back; every child should be able to experience grandparent love like this friends!

We had access to this gorgeous garden also on the property, and let me tell you, since I have a brown thumb, a garden like this is nothing short of a miracle in my book.  Plus the sun was lower in the sky, so we got this pretty sunlight peaking through.  May have been my favorite light of the session.

Then finally we ended the session in front of this amazing garage on the property.  Because we were almost done, the boys started to let loose, and they were awesome.  The cousins are going to be such good friends when they get older.

I hope you enjoyed reliving this session, as much as I enjoyed shooting it.  If you'd like to see one of my past blogs featuring another extended family session, just click on “Extended Family Session” underneath the blog title and all of the blog posts featuring Extended Family Sessions will come up.
