Denver, Colorado Senior Session | Mt Falcon West
I have to admit that a blog post featuring this Senior Session at Mount Falcon West is long, long overdue. I have always loved Emma’s Senior Girl session, but never made time to blog it and then I realized that I always have clients asking about the Mount Falcon West location. It is a wonderful location because it’s not too far from Denver, and its one of those locations that “screams Colorado” because it has Mountain Views, is green all year round, and there is no difficult hiking required. In fact, Emma and her family were from Michigan and they wanted to show off the beautiful Colorado scenery because they knew none of her classmates would have senior photos that looked anything like this! And no offense to any of my Michigan friends (as I spent some time interning at University of Michigan), but there is no place like Colorado.
This session was meant to be because the reason this family was in town, was for her brother’s wedding and we had exactly 1.5 days to get this session done. And for those that don’t know how flakey Denver’s weather in June and July can be, you know this was nothing short of a miracle that we got this done. We had a cloudy day that was threatening to rain and storm, but luckily the cloud cover did not hide our beautiful view of the mountains when we first arrived. But, nevertheless we knew we had to work fast.
As the time passed, we ended up fighting through some really, really large rain drops - which always creates a bit of a panic; because ya know…hair and make-up, camera equipment - those little things. Then we got some peeks of sunshine shooting through the clouds, and THEN we got a rainbow up against the dark sky. And sometimes rainbows are exactly what you need to see to reassure you that everything is going to be ok. That’s exactly what this rainbow told us. That we were going to be able to finish out this completely gorgeous senior session and they were going to get to enjoy their last day in Denver without having to reschedule their senior session because of weather!
As I’ve shot at Mt Falcon West quite a few times, I have found even more little backdrops full of goodness with large rocks you can sit on. In fact, I love this location so much that we had our own family photos taken here at the end of last summer; and given that we are now living in a Global Pandemic, I am sure glad we had them done when we did!
