Downtown Littleton Urban Family Photo Session with Mom and Son

Welcome back to Part II of Winter time photo sessions when our outdoor areas here in Denver and the surrounding areas are bare and ugly looking, ha! This gorgeous Downtown Littleton family session in December was just what the doctor ordered. I hadn’t shot in Downtown Littleton in quite a while and when Yvonne asked me for location recommendations for their mini session, this was one of the locations I suggested and she immediately agreed!

Yvonne is a school administrator in our district and I had the pleasure of meeting her and her son a few years ago when he attended school with my girls. It was so good to get together with them because I love seeing the “littles” grow up over the years and I’m in disbelief that he will soon be in middle school!!!

One of the reasons I love Downtown Littleton is because of the textured walls and the pops of color. The turquoise door is a favorite, and Yvonne’s red jacket looked amazing against this door! I bet the architectural firm that owns this building never thought their turquoise door would be such a hit for photo sessions!

When we saw this wall, Yvonne’s son knew he wanted this backdrop, because who doesn’t love a wall that reminds you of the CU Buffs?! I learned very quickly when we moved to the Denver area, that you are either a CU Buffs fan or a CSU Rams fan. I think I’m kinda partial to the Buffs since they’re in the Pac-12 with my UCLA Bruins (wink wink).

The stairway is a favorite go-to of mine. I discovered it during a sisters session and realized the light is perfectly diffused in this spot so I use it every single session I’m down there!

This neutral brick wall, is a new spot I tried for the first time because I knew Yvonne’s red jacket would pop against the wall, and we could do some fun walking shots. I have to say, I love how these turned out, and two of these poses ended up in their Top 5 Selections. I call that a win!

We finished up with lots of color and some cool wall art - perfect for tweens. The dogs ‘kinda’ reminded me of my crazy Boxer at home and was the perfect ending to our session!
