Denver Union Station Family Portrait Session | Downtown Denver Family Photographer

Family of Three Session at Denver Union Station_0002.jpg

The last 6 months somehow passed you by and you ended up missing your opportunity to book family photos during spring, summer, and now your photographer is all booked for fall. Boooo!!!!

You still want family photos but there are no leaves on the trees, and it is ugly outside! What do you do now? Do you give up on family photos until next spring, which seems like years and years away - or do you talk to your photographer about some other options? I am here to tell you that there are other great location options during the ugly bare tree season of late fall and through winter. I am going to do a series of 3 blog posts on some other location options you can consider in late fall and through the winter. The first place I would have families consider for an outdoor late fall or winter family portrait session is Denver Union Station.

Although we do some of the same things that we do with nature type locations, such as try to shoot right around sunrise or sunset, some things (like wild animals, wish I was kidding about that) we don’t have to worry about when we are in a more urban setting. Moms can wear their heels without having to worry about getting stuck in gravel or mud and there is no hiking required to get to the good spots! Now one thing we do have to factor in, in a place like Union Station is people walking in the background of our shots. In the early morning hours of a weekend, this is usually pretty easy to avoid.

There is no shortage of backdrops available when you do a Family Portrait Session at Denver Union Station. We can get the famous Denver Union Station sign, RTD trains, and stairs, which I love to shoot on stairs! And the added bonus, is if your kiddo is a train fanatic, going to Denver Union Station is a real treat. And if you really want to be adventurous, you can take the train from your house or your nearest Park and Ride to your session. That may be a little stressful though, huh?! Haha.

This sweet family has been coming to me almost since I started my business back up in Denver, and we have shot at a Rustic barn, Downtown Littleton, and now Denver Union Station. I love mixing it up a bit so each portrait session is different, and special and not only can you see how much your family has grown over time, you can have the variety that the Denver area has to offer.

I hope this blog post has given you some encouragement to not give up if you missed spring, summer, or early fall as there are other options in our great city of Denver. I will report back next month with some additional options!
